Family Rosenberger / party of 12 - Maakum (NL) till Zurich (CH) - May 2004



The Family Rosenberger (6 siblings with their partners from all over the US) would like to explore the roots of the Mennonite in Europe.


Day 1

Pick up in Makkum (Netherlands) with Mercedes Minibus for transfer to Langnau i.E. in Switzerland


Day 2

After breakfast transfer to the church for Sunday services and meet the Mennonite community of Langnau (the largest Mennonite community of Switzerland) After lunch excursion to the museum of Jeremias Gotthelf in Lutzelfluh and the Zither-museum and the Castle in Trachselwald


Day 3

Day excursion to Berne - City sightseeing with English speaking guide incl. visit to the Swiss parliament, the old town and the BearPark

Day 4

Transfer to Grindelwald with a stop in Kiesen to visit the Diary-museum of the Swiss Cheese Association.

After lunch in Thun, city sightseeing on foot with local English speaking guide incl. visit to the Thun Castle


Day 5

Day excursion to "Jungfraujoch"

top of Europe.

After lunch, decent to "Kleine Scheidegg" and start hiking back to Grindelwald


Day 6

Excursion to Trummelbach falls, Staubbach falls, Mistery-Park and Interlaken

Day 7

Transfer to Zurich with a stop in Brienz / Jobin wood carver museum / college.

After lunch, visit to the open air musuem Ballenberg where a local, fluent English speaking guide is awaiting us


Day 8

Day excursion Lucerne - City sightseeing with English speaking guide incl. visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport


Day 9

City sightseeing in Zurich with the focus on the history of the Mennonites / Anabaptist.

Day 10

After lunch - excursion to Zollikon and Baretswil to explore the "Taufer-Hohle", the cave where the first Mennonite hid from the authorities of the town of Zurich (back at the beginning of the 16th century)


Day 11

City sightseeing in the greater Zurich area with the focus on the history of the Mennonites / Anabaptist.


Day 12

Transfer to the airport to check in for flights back to US.
